Hot Air Balloon Quilt

I've been working on a quilt for my Grandson who will be born in November.
I know, I have "lots" of time, but really I don't....and I have three other quilts to make...so I've been working.
I started off creating hot air balloons with a paper piecing technique of sorts, though it is reversed from those I've seen....
I draw picture on the tear away stabilizer and then from underneath sew on the fabric...when all the pieces are assembled I used a satin stitch to create the "ribs" of the balloon. It took several tries to get something viable....I am pretty happy with how those turned out.
Then...
I brought many strips together to create a "countryside" and then sewed my "appliqu├ęs" on....
The blue underneath is the backing and the quilt is ready to quilt!
I think it's pretty cute. It is just the right size....
Have a great rest of your day.
Nancy
