The Day the Contractor Came

Well, this is the year for getting things done that needed to be done....like 26 years ago.
It's funny actually. Know how you put things off? It isn't important, doesn't matter....but deep down it bothers you?
Yeah, that kind of thing.
Hubby decided one day that the plugs and switches needed replacing....it all started a few days ago when he pushed the fan switch in our bathroom and all it did was buzz. Yeah, buzz. No fan. Just an ominous buzz....that electrical buzz you cannot ignore...safely.
So, he contacted our friend, who is also a contractor. Told him we had some electrical things....and then Hubby went and looked all around the house for all the plugs/switches that worried him.....
There were two plugs in the kitchen, GFIs that needed replacing....the fan switch in the master bath and then....ta dat! The guest bathroom had a plug that needed replacing as nothing stayed plugged in and wasn't GFI. Then, he decided to talk to Mike about the fan over the toilet...
It was an awful fan, that we replaced about 26 years ago, but was so loud and awful we unplugged it. It was also on the same switch as the light so you had to have it. So, we brought that up to Mike.
He is so handy!
He rebuilt the fan so its motor is quieter and (as Elmo says) Ta ta dah! He rewired the bathroom so that you can turn on the light...from either side and choose the fan....or not! Amazing!
Course, it did mean that he had to cut the wall to get wires down from up in the attic...and so now when it is fully dry I will sand, prime and paint.....but really....this is luxury! I know, little things make me happy!!
So, While the boys were fishing wires down through the attic and all that....I had to be busy too. I couldn't do laundry....that was in the way. So, my daughter had asked for pillow covers for pillows in her entry and family room....
So, I got busy.....

Yup...I made 8 pillow covers! Four got zippers, on got ribbons to tie it closed and the other is a "sew it on"....
The zippered pillow covers weren't hard, just had to sew a seam...press it open, line the zipper upside down on the seam and stitch.....then, rip the seam open, and open the zipper before sewing up the sides. It is important to open the zipper....I actually forgot once (mind was drifting) and had to rip the seam open to open the zipper! then resew the seam.....
They were all 18" square or the ribbon one was 20" square....
I had fun with a break from quilting....
I couldn't quilt....waiting for fabric to arrive to work on the triple Irish chain....
Anyway....that was my yesterday....
How was your yesterday??
How is your day today planned??
Have a great day...
Nancy
