Cleaning out the attic and putting in insulation

Yesterday, we finally did it!
Well, to be technical, we had it done!
You see, a few years ago, we had rats in the attic....
Many years before that we had the roof replaced.
We have lived in this house for 25 years, and are the 2nd owners of this house. The previous owners told us when we bought the house that they had had blown insulation in.
When our pest control guy came and checked out the attic and said it was "all clear",  and the plugged holes did the trick....he mentioned that there was a company he recommended that would completely clear out and vacuum everything from the attic, and replace the "blown in" insulation with R30 insulation. We hesitated for a few months, then with our intense hot days and humidity, we decided it was time. Afterall, the "insulation" up there was about an inch thick...maybe. Yeah, I'm not kidding.
We also plan on a whole house fan that can help with the heat buildup in the house....
So, we hired the guys our pest guy recommended.
They arrived on time at 8 am....

That was the busiest vacuum hose in creation! It ran for almost 8 hours! There was stuff under the stuff we knew about. They even found the box for the original Black and White TV anttena!
They didn't tell me much, just that there was lots of stuff!
Picture a vacuum that reaches all the way into your attic and sucks out all that stuff! It was amazing!
Then they spent the time putting in fresh, clean and thick R30 batting up in the attic.....
Now our house is sealed and clean and ready for heat and cold!
Oh what did I do for 8 hours while the guys made it impossible for us to use the other rooms (that means my craft room)... I moved my little sewing machine into the kitchen and sewed there...
A Christmas table runner for my daughter.....
 The backing.....
I finished the table runner and began a baby quilt (which I'll show later).....
Today, we are going to look at whole house fans and see if we can get one.....for cooler nights....
I hope you have a great day....
Nancy
