Caring for Linens

Yesterday, was the perfect day....warm and sunny with a bit of a breeze. Perfect day to hang out bed linens.....
I can't remember a better day in a while when it was time to wash the bed linens...
Our bed get nothing but pure linen (purchased from Linoto, Ebay and other sources as well as pillowcases I made myself)....so on a day like that, with the warm sun and light breeze, I hung the linens out and in no time at all they were fresh as the day and dry!
I have one of those little hide away clothes lines and so I pulled it out and hooked it up....

Not a beautiful view, I grant, but it is just to prove that once in a while, I truly do dry the linens on the line! It is the best way to care for them and they smell simply lovely!
Do you line dry?? Do you have linen sheets?? (You simply must get some!)
Hope you have a great day!

Getting ready for the 4th of July

It is almost here! The 4th of July!!
How did that happen anyway?? Summer is flying by....
Today, I got out the buntings and Hubby helped put them up. I had found a new smaller bunting which was perfect for over the door area, so we redid the nails that hold them up.....

With small flags at each corner of the driveway we are all festive!
What does everyone do for the 4th??

The problem with King Beans

Ah, summer time....the sun, the outdoor gardening and the produce from the garden....
Now as you know, gardening hasn't been happening much and things are looking a little "ratty".....
One thing on the list today was to figure out something to extend Hubby's trellis for the King Beans, which by now have gotten a good 2 feet beyond the trellis. (look at earlier posts from last year about King beans.....)
So, while Hubby was listening to the radio, I went outside to look for something to give us the height we need.
I found it! An old round trellis that was in the garden, presently being decoration, so I got up into the raised bed and slipped it over Hubby's trellis....It worked! Now we have a good 5+ feet in height.....
The old dry vines from a previous use is still on this trellis, and I figured it would give the new vines more grip on a metal trellis, so I left those on.
We tied the trellis to the other, just for a bit of stability....

And then we tied the other two corners to the finials for more stability....just in case we get Santa Ana Winds.....
This is the view from our back door....in the foreground are the tomatoes....
(The wires are in the neighbor's yard, not ours and no where near the new metal trellis...just a bad shot...)
I hope you had a great and productive day...

Creative Comeback

Well, I have been spending time gathering energy and creativity. Anesthesia does something to the brain, really it must....besides the fact that I had surgery....
Anyway, I finally got my act together and created my future Grandson a baby quilt with his name on it.
I went through a lot to get it to this stage. Indecision being one of the obstacles. I wanted to embroider squares with letters...wow, that didn't go well. I started by enlarging the letters with a really neat font on my sewing machine, and though the fabric puckered a bit they were lovely, except when I went to press them and the iron melted the letters onto the iron....major ooops....
So, I decided that if they melted with an iron a hot dryer might not be so great either. So, I decided to applique them. I spent another day working on that.
Then as energy ebbed and flowed and ebbed again, I finished the quilt and quilted it. Now, all I have to do is the binding....
I am not allowed to show you his name....but it is on there....
I also went to a thrift store and found for a $1 this darling fabric! Again with the indecision about what to do with it.....

I am sure eventually I will come up with something.....
Have a great day!
